Luca Tiberti, professeur au département, publiera l'article "The Effect of Input-trade Liberalization on farm and nonfarm Labour in Vietnam" dans la revue European Review of Agricultural Economics. Le papier a été rédigé avec Jorge Dávalos (Universidad del Pacífico, Peru) et Trung Xuan Hoang (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam).
Ci-dessous un résumé du papier:
We assess the impact of trade liberalization-induced variation in the price of chemical fertilizers on farm and nonfarm labour in rural Vietnam. Building on a non-separable agricultural framework, some theoretically based hypotheses are tested through a panel estimation. The estimations control for household fixed effects and possible selection bias linked to labour market regimes. We found that the liberalization increased rural household participation into farm employment while nonfarm participation was generally unaffected. Nevertheless, we also found that the liberalization in the rice sector had a compensating effect. Some heterogeneous impacts related to the various labour market regimes are also found.
